MyWhoosh v3.6.0 Release

Update (Tues 5th March): Right, I’ve had trouble getting this to work. Here’s what I had to do.

When I loaded up MyWhoosh, I was seeing v3.5.3 still. I figured it would then prompt me to update like it normally does, but it didn’t.

I could connect my turbo etc, and then choose a route, but once it tried to load the game it crashed with a fatal error that I could report, but didn’t solve the issue.

Re-loading the app basically repeated that process.

I opened the Windows apps menu and tried a Repair, but that didn’t work either.

What I had to do was to Google for ‘MyWhoosh Windows App Store‘, then follow that link through which ultimately loads up the local Windows App Store app on my PC:

From there I could click ‘Update‘ and the app downloaded a 1.5gb update.

Then, once that finished I was up to v3.6.0, but I still had another 1.5gb patch to apply once in game. So like it says below, be sure to leave plenty of time to resolve these issues / downloads, if intending to ride today.

A couple of week’s MyWhoosh teased us with a very short video of some of their new features.

At 3pm GMT today the new v3.6.0 release of MyWhoosh dropped.

And it’s a big one.

I guess I should say it’s big in a few ones, one of which is patch size:

  • 306mb on Mac OS (Mac desktop)
  • 450mb on iOS (iPad)
  • 522mb on Android
  • 1.36gb on Windows

That’s fairly typical for a new MyWhoosh release, although it is a bit of a bummer when you just want to ride, so I would suggest getting your machine on nice and early to pull down and apply the patch. If your internet is anything like mine, I’d suggest at least an hour for this to get done.

OK, but enough of that, let’s get on to the good stuff.

What’s New In MyWhoosh v3.6.0?

There are a bunch of new things to cover.

The first, the one that MyWhoosh put at the top of their list, is the new in-app economy.

What's New In MyWhoosh v3.6.0 - in app economy

This is designed to reward your efforts with in-game currency. I don’t know what the new currency is called, as right now the game is down for update and I can’t get in to check.

What I do know is the currency will be able to be spent on unlocking new content. I’m guessing bikes along with clothing / kit, but maybe there will be more to this.

Taking us beyond just ‘levelling up’ there are now achievements to unlock, rewarding our progress and allowing us to earn trophies.

Again, I sadly do not have more on this just yet. But I’m guessing this will be things like riding all the different routes, hitting certain power targets, competing in races, maybe getting KOMs and stuff like that.

MyWhoosh v3.6.0 Community and Connectivity update

Community and Connectivity Updates

MyWhoosh started their update notes with the announcement of the MyWhoosh economy, but then said:

Connectivity is king in our latest update. Our upgraded technical capabilities ensure a seamless, lag-free experience, even in the most crowded events. This enhancement means more participants, more competition, and more connections.

Also we have significantly improved how segments operate during rides with enhanced real-time feedback, countdown displays, leaderboards, and post-segment updates.

So if connectivity is King, the MyWhoosh economy must be the Emperor.

Emperors outrank Kings, right?

Again, I haven’t seen these updates in action, but I’m looking forwards to checking them out.

Running Is Coming!

Running Is Coming to MyWhoosh

I know running isn’t for everyone, but I’ve gotten into doing a 5K each week since Christmas.

I’ve been doing all my running Zwift, so it’s going to be really nice to be able to switch over to run around the much prettier MyWhoosh world.

The notes say this one is going to be available in free roam mode for now, and will connect to the treadmill or pair with foot pods or smart shoes. I’m hoping it works with the Zwift Runn Pod, which is – in reality – some rebranded generic device, as best I am aware.

Of course you don’t need to run. You can also walk around the world. Trust me, it’s way more fun than just running on a treadmill and staring at a wall.

Updated Website Profile Page

I must confess, I had not logged in to the MyWhoosh website in a good long while.

So whether this is the new profile page, or the existing one, I am unsure.

As the game is currently down for update, it makes sense the website may or may not be undergoing a similar new deployment.

Here’s what I see all the same:

Updated MyWhoosh Website Profile Page

And also the activities page, which is not showing everything properly – kinda matching what other’s are saying about what they experienced in game, prior to the servers going down for maintainence:

The update notes say your profile on the MyWhoosh website will provide detailed insights into performance metrics, activity history, and comparative data.

Improved Performance Verification Program

Don’t like cheaters?

No, me either.

However they are prevalent in all online games, and never more so when there is cash money available for winning competitions.

In case you didn’t know, MyWhoosh has the biggest online prize pot available – even for us amateurs – via their Sunday Race Club.

Well, in a bid to further clamp down on cheaters, MyWhoosh have amped up their Performance Verification Program. Cheaters can now be automatically detected in real time, and booted from racers.

A very worthy addition, and one of those features that runs under the radar but is a massive – and essential – thing to have.

Also Watch Out For…

Some extra stuff is coming.

In the MyWhoosh Workouts section we are going to find Coach Led Video Workouts.

These will be guided sessions taken at your own pace with a personal coach taking us through the workout.

I cannot wait to try this out.

And if you prefer, there will also be Live Coach Group Workouts coming too.

These will be led by expert instructors, taking place in real time as group rides.

MyWhoosh Tadej Pogačar

Will we see Tadej lead a ride?

Unlikely.

Besides which, I don’t need dropping like the rest of the pro peloton during a workout.

More To Come

MyWhoosh finish out the v3.6.0 release notes with the following:

Exciting times are ahead with more updates on the horizon, including the MyWhoosh Link App and our upcoming launch on AppleTV. And remember, it’s just March – we have a whole lot coming your way this year!

I added a link in above to a post where we covered off the AppleTV and MyWhoosh Link App beta launch.

So yeah… pretty massive.

I can’t wait to get in and ride.

See you in there!
